January 7, 2004 - Wednesday
It's been a while since I've been on a long business trip and the change in
Harry by phone is obvious. He's talked in the past, and so has Jeremy, but
the conversations have been brief. He'll be anxioius to say something, but
then his attention will be off to something else. However, when I called home
yesterday, it was more like bedtime. Harry lingered, hemmed and hawed, clearly
trying to think of a question to ask so I'd stay on the phone a little longer.
When I called again this afternoon I was ready.

"Harry, is it night time there where you are?" I asked.
    "Yeah," he answered.
"Well, it's still daytime here. I'm on the other side where the sun is
still up," I said referencing past abstract descriptions of sunrise and
    sunset, night and day.
"Why are you on the other side?" That's Harry's (or any child's)
way of saying, 'tell me more.' I had his interest and later overheard him
talking about it with his mother while Jeremy was on the phone. I also told
Harry I was standing looking at the constructure site for a monorail station.
He wanted to know if I saw any trains. I told him it wasn't working yet and
that they were still building it, but that there were two big cranes parked
right out the window I was at. He didn't want to get off the phone.
