April 15, 2005 - Friday
The boys have been playing a lot of shooting games, with pointing fingers and making hissing and spitting noises. It's not something that we or their teachers like very much, but it is inevitable boy stuff. I do try to discourage it by admonishing them for the spitting noises and sometimes talking about the seriousness of guns, but it hard to find a good balance.

This morning when Harry and Jeremy started in with the Star Wars phaser noises in the living room I said the same thing about the spitting noises.
"OK," said Harry in his resigned voice. But within seconds I could hear him say something to Jeremy. It was baring audible to me where I was in the kitchen, but it must have been something like "Jeremy, let's go up to your room," because they both headed for the stairs almost immediately and closed Jeremy's door (that's something that's been happening pretty regularly, for better and/or worse). And, unless it was my imagination, the spitting started right up again.
