June 12, 2005 - Sunday
Yesterday at about quarter of 4:00 in the afternoon we walked the boys over to Rip's house for their first sleep over at someone else's house. Harry had kind of an aborted sleep over with Rip in Maine and the boys have now had several "sleep overs" together in Jeremy's room. The rule is only on weekends, but they've probably done it close to a dozen times since the first one on New Year's Eve. Still, this was clearly a bigger deal and something that both boys were looking forward to all week.

Harry was excited because in addition to Rip, classmates Connor and Aidan were also coming and it was sure to be a party. Of course, for Jeremy at three and a half, it really meant going somewhere to play with someone else's toys rather than to really play with the other kids and it was generous of Rip's parents to simply include him and give us a night off. As expected, Jeremy did his own thing and was not surprisingly no trouble for anyone.

We really didn't hear too much about what the pack of older boys did, beyond the fact that sleep was limited to about six hours (10:30 pm to about 4:30 am) and a general overview of the relationship dynamics that played out much according to predictions. Aidan, being the better part of a year younger and physically just slower moving, got left behind often and got a little frustrated. But Rip's parents said the boys all seemed to bond (well, maybe not Jeremy) a little after the long, shared experience. Both Harry and Jeremy seemed to have had a very good time and both took naps this afternoon. Harry's was only an hour, but we had to wake Jeremy up after about three hours to come play with Chloe and Andre, who came for a visit.
