March 20, 2005 - Sunday
Last evening while brushing his teeth, Jeremy lost a tooth. Grandma, who was babysitting for our symphony concert, says that all of a sudden Jeremy stopped brushing his teeth and got a funny, concerned look on his face. When she looked in his mouth she saw a gap between his front teeth and his eyetooth and the fallen tooth just sitting in behind his tongue. When we asked him this morning about it, he claims that it had been loose and it just fell out, rather than being banged or something to dislodge it. Grandma thought maybe it was his toothbrush that hit it too hard, but I don't think even Jeremy's "fast brushing" would be strong enough to dislodge a tooth if it weren't ready to come. And there doesn't appear to be any sign of stress to the fallen tooth or the gum.

All that would seem quite normal except everything we've read suggests baby teeth start to come out between the ages of 5 and 7, not 3 years and 4 months!

I think Harry is a little miffed by the whole thing. His friend Rip has lost two teeth and Harry keeps asking when he's going to lose one. Now his little brother has lost a tooth first. Hopefully it will built character.
