One of our default locations for giving Harry mental stimulation is the Gymini.
It's a rather silly red, black, and white quilt with two corner-to-corner arches
that cross diagonally in the middle from which objects hang. It can fold up
like any blanket to be stored out of the way, but Harry's never is. His mother
has used it with Harry daily and now that I am home with him in the mornings,
so have I.
This morning was particular exciting because Harry was clearly following moving
objects with his eyes - one of the developmental checkmarks for about this time
in his life. His mother has said that he's been doing it over the last few days,
and he's done it sporadically for me over the last few weeks, but today there
was no doubt. It's interesting to me that his reaction time is so slow and will
apparently stay that way for at least several months as his brain gains control
of his eye movements.
He was particularly fascinated with Tommy the Panda, one
of his early gifts, pictured top right (top).
