Harry's newest talent is smacking his lips, or smacking his tongue between
his lips: we're not exactly sure. Either way,
it's something akin to when he sucks his hand; that
is, it may mean he's hungry, but he also could just be fidgeting. During the
day, this newly discovered body sound can be rather charming: a new talent
to behold from our creative young boy. However, at 4:30 in the morning, it
is less endearing.
I think his mother and I have been successfully sleeping through many of Harry's
sleeping noises - the ones when it sounds like he might be awake and in need
of attention but he's really sound asleep - but this one is bigger and better
than before and has regained our nighttime awareness. As we're well into Harry's
third month, I think the novelty of being woken up in the wee hours of the
morning by silly noises has a diminishing appeal. On the other hand, we just
need think of the other possibilities for a baby's sleep habits and we can
give Harry a lot of leeway in this regard.
