Harry looked in the mirror today
and said his name. He had walked over to the freestanding, full-length mirror
in our spare bedroom as he often likes to do and I, following closely behind
to avert any potential accidents, asked him "who's that baby in the mirror?"
I asked that many times before, but this time he answered, saying something
like "ahwy." I thought I had heard him say this earlier today while staring
at his reflection in the oven, but I was across the room and maybe he was
just standing there babbling. This time, though, it seemed pretty clear he
was trying to repeat the name he's been hearing for 13 months, so I picked
him up and brought him to the mirror in our bedroom where his mother was dressing.
I asked him again who was in this mirror. He said "ahwy" again and that was
good enough for his mother, too.
