Where to kids get this?
I don't think Harry's mother and I go around the house claiming objects as
"mine" very often, but it's inevitable for
toddlers to reach that point. And, it seems, Harry may be there now. Maybe
"mine" isn't really what he's saying, but it sure sounds like it
and is consistently accompanied by either pointing or clutching. In many ways,
this new "mine" has taken the place of "dat,"
which denoted objects that Harry seemed to want. Perhaps this is a natural
evolution now that he can grab and hold. But, where did he get it? I'm
blaming the older kids at his daycare.
