Harry's a year and a half today and it's remarkable how
far he's come. That's obvious, of course, but it's not something that is all
that easy to appreciate on a daily basis. I've been
looking back at older pages on this site
and am reminded how much less mobile, animated, and talkative he was just
a short time ago. Not the least amazing is just how different he used to look,
with long, black, flailing hair and a much rounder face than he has even now.
And, I've said it before, but it's so easy to falsely write into one's memory
that he always was this smart, that he always had this personality, and that
we always knew him as well as we do now. Consciously we know it's not true
and that he's growing and learning and becoming a person right before our
eyes. But, the mind somehow wants it the other way. I like to think we see
the differences everyday, and some days we are amazed at one or another new
action or word (many of those are recorded in these pages). But, I know, too,
that there are thousands, millions, of moments that go by and are lost to
time and memory.
