I've noticed this week that Harry's
been quite interested in the television at his
daycare. Well, it's not hard to notice: he's crawled right in the TV room
each morning I've dropped him off there. His friend, Lucas,
is always in there watching TV in the morning and maybe he's learned it from
him, but I don't think so. I, too, have been watching the news at dinner lately
due to the wild presidential election the country is in the middle of sorting
out and Harry has seemed curious about it then as well.
It's easy to say that TV is bad and that he just shouldn't watch it, but it's
not that easy. For one thing, we've noticed Harry eats a little better when
he's distracted. And, there's certainly no shielding him for all TV. It seems
to me that a little TV isn't a bad thing since he'll be exposed to it sooner
or later. It's better to create good TV watching habits now, and that includes,
I think, both not watching and watching. Fortunately, the daycare insists
that the kids get just one hour in the morning and that's all. Then, it's
play time.
