Call me cheap, but I've
long believed that young children don't need much in the way of toys. What
they do need is objects that they can come to understand and either continue
to play with or discard in favor of new ones. It's best, of course, if those
objects are not too heavy, can't hurt either the child or the environment,
and make a lot of noise if they are banged about.
