An amazing thing has happened since just before Christmas when we moved some toys upstairs to the kids' rooms to make space for new Christmas presents: Harry and Jeremy have been playing upstairs, together, without us!

I fully understand that this is a mixed blessing. Indeed, I have long considered building another room off the first floor of our house just so that, as the boys get older and need more space, they will still have a space to play downstairs where we are likely to be. However, after four years of constant boys I cannot deny that their mother and I find these times when the boys are occupying themselves in a different part of the house extremely relaxing and liberating. Of course, it's wonderful, too, that as brothers they have so much fun together.
