"Blauw!"
"Jeremy said 'blauw' at me," Harry will complain.
"Oh, Harry, Jeremy's just being silly and trying to get you mad. You
should just ignore him," I'll say.
Fundamentally, that's true, although Jeremy has now started to say "blauw"
to his mother and me. He's emphatic about it, too. We think now that maybe
it's his swear word. So, we try to discourage it a little, but it's a delicate
balance. We don't want him to say nasty things, but we also don't want him
to learn that saying "blauw" or anything else gets our attention
so clearly. Besides, "blauw" isn't so bad outside the context.
