April 1, 2005 - Friday
Harry's practicing was a lot better tonight, but that's because he just sailed right through everything without making very many (overt) mistakes. (He doesn't always keep to the beat if he has to think about something, but that's a *very* common problem for kids learning to play any instrument.) I did not play along with him as I did earlier in the week - his exercises for the week included an accompanying part for marimba/piano - and it's certainly possible that my playing the keyboard while he was trying to think about his notes threw him off. And tonight he was reading his music very loudly while he played, calling out the notes and rests. "Tap, tap, tap, tap, buzz, buzz, tap, rest." It's very charming. It's always charming watching Harry's brain work.
