I'm not saying this happens all that much, but this morning without any encouragement, Harry said "I have to feed Spooky. She's my pet," and went into the dining room where she lives and fed her. Of course, developing that sort of
sense of personal responsibility is one of the reasons why I think having a pet is a good idea and I 've noticed Harry increasingly moving in that direction with Spooky. He does remember to feed her more often than he used to without encouragement, and more often insists on doing it himself when he sees me about to do it.
Of course, he also runs in there to feed her when he's suppose to be helping set the table or eating his dinner as, I think, kind of an aversion of duty technique. But, it's often for the right reasons.
