May 5, 2005 - Thursday
For the last two and a half months since the boys started taking music lessons our Thursday afternoon and evenings have followed this schedule:
- 4:00 - Pick the boys up from school
- 4:15 - Arrive home, gather the cello, Jeremy's chair, drum sticks, and music books
- 4:30 - Assemble picnic dinner for the boys, usually consisting of yogurt, baby carrots, applesauce, crackers, cheese, and other basic food the boys will eat
- 4:45 (ideally) - Pack the chair and leave
- 5:10 (target) - Arrive at the Indian Hill Music School
- 5:15 - Jeremy's cello lesson begins, Harry and I attend lesson , Harry tries to stay quiet and still
- 5:45 - Cello lesson ends, set up picnic dinner in music school common area, wash hands
- 5:55 (or so) - Mommy arrives, having come from the train station about 10 minutes away, usually with dinner for herself and me (burritos, sushi from the store deli, or wrap sandwich, etc. )
- 6:25 - I walk with Harry to the percussion rooms, outside and in another door
- 6:30 - Harry's drum lesson, he goes in, I go back
- 6:30-7:00 - This time has varied. At first I walked through and explored the music school with Jeremy. Lately mommy and he have been leaving early and going home ahead of Harry and me.
- 7:00 - Harry's lesson ends, we leave and go home
It's a schedule that, because we are parents and have kids with these commitments (although they could be sports events, like Harry's T-Ball practices every Friday evening from 5:30-7:00pm), has little flexibility. Today was not much different, except for one thing. Cinco de Mayo isn't our wedding anniversary, but it is the anniversary that we used to celebrate before our wedding and we still pay attention to it as a little bit of a special day. Instead of drinking water from a water bottle, the boys' mother and I had a mini bottle of white wine in real glass glasses with our sandwich wraps and salad.
