August 13, 2006 - Sunday
We were shopping for new speakers this afternoon to replace the 26-year-old
ones that I got when I was a college freshman. We didn't buy any today, but
we did go into the demo rooms of a three different stores to listen and compare. A sales guy helped us in the second store and played some jazz and the sound track from House of theFlying Daggers. I asked for some classical music because I think one can hear more differentiation with classical as opposed to rock-n-roll or pop. The poor sales guy clearly didn't have a clue about classical music, but went to get a sampler CD from which I could pick a couple of tracks. A picked track 2
to start and when it started to play I, only semi-seriously asked Jeremy if
he knew what it was. After all, he's still been picking CDs for the car ride
to school and it wasn't out of the question that he'd recognize Bach. Perhaps,
I thought, he might have overheard the guy misprouncing "Bach" when he read it.
Jeremy's answer, however, and the smiling, yet matter-of-fact, "come on, dad"
way he said completely surprised me.
"Bandenburg."
