Mommy was away for a while this morning, her birthday, at a business-related event and that left the boy's and me time to make a birthday cake. I'd sort of envisioned a typical time of my trying to figure out home to bake while at the same time trying to keep the boys from getting too wild. But much to the contrary, the boys were actually quite a big help. I'll have to confess to only having a general sense of where things like flour and sugar are in the kitchen, but the boys seemed to know exactly which was the colander for each and even a fair amount about actually how to mix everything. I guess they've both done a bit of baking like this with their mother, and Jeremy with Mary, but I was still surprised how much they seemed to know.
