Another big attraction for Harry at the lab is this curtain that can be pulled across the conference room to divide it but is usually closed to one side. It creates a fabulous place to hide and play and Harry just thinks it's one of the funniest things.

August 17, 2000 - Thursday
We have a number of computers in the lab, but whenever I put Harry down in the middle of the largest room, he heads straight for a Blue and White G3 Macintosh between two Windows machines. Naturally, Harry is not a computer critic yet, nor does he quite understand the interfaces of either the MacOS or Windows, but he does like the big blue apple on the side of the G3. He also likes the pop-top style pull tab that opens the chassis and has already gotten inside a couple of times - although, he has yet to add any RAM modules.

Aside from playing with the pull tab, Harry's main thing with the G3 is to use it to climb up to a standing position. He's been practicing that all the time now and the G3 is just at the right height. Another thing Harry's been trying is walking, with support of course. I've been holding him by the hands and leading him forward for about two weeks now and he's starting to really get the hang of it, albeit with great imprecision in step and balance. But, I know he likes doing it because twice today after he's gone over to the G3 and stood up, he's turn to me with an outstretched hand. Yesterday, I held my open hand out to him as him was standing there until he took it, then the other, and we went walking through the lab. Today, he stretched his hand out to me.
