November 20, 2000 - Monday
It's never like this in the magazines or baby books, but now that Harry's older and has thing to do and places to be (and is on the verge of walking), his nursing posture has changed dramatically. When he's falling asleep at bedtime he still regresses to the warm, cuddly in-arm method most people picture of mother and child, but during the afternoons he now prefers this standing approach to the walkup milk bar. Actually, if he would just stand still that wouldn't be so curious either, but Harry wants to be on the move and keeps his legs bouncing. With him, it's a bit more like being on a dance floor with a drink in his hand where only the lower half of his body is doing the moving; except in this case, the drink is connected to his mother. I suppose maybe this is a sign that it's time to stop nursing all together, but medically it seems to still make good sense if he actually drinks well and he does his best in the evening around bedtime when he'd not be so likely to have a glassful yet.
