Harry has three new talents that
he's starting demonstrating over the last couple of days...
First, he's now quite interested in climbing and
regularly makes a break for the stairs, which he can go up at quite a fast
pace although coming down is still a little tenuous. More interestly in some
ways, he has found a large handled basket that resides in our living. It has
yarn and other knitting supplies inside, though Harry has not investigated
them yet. Instead, he likes to climb up and down from this basket. It's handle
is well positioned to offer ideal leverage and stability for a little boy
just finding his way. It also provides an excellent support as he reaches
for a phone just past the basket, which excites Harry mostly because of the
speakerphone button just within reach. That, of course, causes the phone to
make noise and he likes to push it repeatedly. He occasionally also hits the
re-dial and the Operator button, but so far we've been there to avoid any
unforeseen expenses.
Second, Harry has started to use his hands to slide backwards on the wood
floors at home. He'll lie with his stomach down and push himself backward,
sliding along until he runs into something. So far, he has only hit his head
once, inadvertently sliding under a chair and that wasn't really that hard.
I'm betting this is a trend that doesn't last too long.
Lastly, Harry now takes off his socks. He usually does it in the car - he's
got nothing else to do but yank at things - but he looks so happy and sits
there holding a sock in each hand for several minutes. He's such a clever
boy.
