    Yesterday afternoon Harry's mother and
I met with a new daycare provider: one even more conveniently about halfway
between our two workplaces. This morning I brought Harry there and spent about
an hour watching how he fit in with the new group. The most striking difference
between this place and Harry's current daycare center, in terms of how it
might affect Harry, is that there are five other children here rather than
the two others that he has been with for the last few weeks. Their ages vary,
with the youngest just a couple of weeks older than Harry and two others about
13 months, so he would have older kids to observe and imitate.

Harry, not surprisingly to us, seemed to fit right into the new group, though
the distraction of all those other kids undoubtedly didn't hurt in the short
time we were there. But, with that initial success, and after twisting our
brains and emotions around the issues, Harry's mother and I decided to make
the change. When we picked up Harry and gave word to Harry's original provider,
there seemed to be little surprise, if even disappointment, though perhaps
that was well masked. She seemed to understand quite handily our reaction
to Tuesday's events and the resulting actions that we have taken since, and
showed no regret. Perhaps, it is for the best. We have had no fault with her
care of Harry, but her inflexibility was more than we think we would be comfortable
with over the coming couple of years of potential daycare for Harry.
