An odd thing
happened this afternoon: after we got home I figured I'd give Harry a ride
on the lawn mower. Well, of course, I'd be mowing the lawn, but Harry has
always thought this was fun. But, after about 10 minutes of fidgeting, Harry
insisted on getting off and when I realized he was serious, I let him down.
For the next five minutes or so, he watched very carefully as I went around
the yard, even laughing at first, then waving bye-bye as I drove away. Since
he continued to hang around, I figured maybe he wanted to get back on, but
that was not the case. He just wanted to watch.
Of course, when I finished and put the tractor back in the garage, Harry was
right back on top of it again, now able to climb into the seat in a matter
of seconds. I'm betting from this, and the rest of his independent behavior
the rest of the evening, that he probably wanted to drive the tractor himself.
Too bad his legs down reached the brake yet.
