Harry's learned a new word and it's a very good one: helpful. Better still, he seems to understand the concept! Harry's been helpful for a while with the dishwasher, taking the clean silverware and plates out and handing them to use, and maybe doing that this morning kicked off this new awareness for him. But, several times to today, Harry has gotten great satisfaction out of being, or minimally our praise for his being, helpful. He has picked up pieces of paper or plastic from the floor and put them in the trash can under the kitchen sink, he has closed doors, and, as I was watering the plants this afternoon, I looked back to see him putting a fica leaf into the pot with all the others. This is a good trend. We'd like it to continue.
