Harry's
mother had an ultrasound today to check the progress of Harry's younger sibling
and, as was the case with Harry, it was wonderfully reassuring to see that
the fetus was growing well, developing little hands and feet and organs on
schedule. And, by taking measurements that were unavailable during the last
ultrasound, it was determined that Harry's sibling is expected to be born
about the middle of October, a couple of weeks sooner than surmised previously.
The ultrasound also suggested that Harry will have a brother, with a 95% degree
of certainty (compared to Harry's ultrasound when there was almost no question
at all) and I guess I have to concede to being surprised. Harry's mother has
had a different time of it this time than she did with Harry, feeling much
sicker and with her body changing in slightly different ways, so perhaps we
were expecting the different sex. But, I suppose there's no more common advice
about pregnancies than that each one is different, regardless of the sex.
Harry's mother and I are left with a dilemma about names. We would have been
in a much better position to come up with a girl's name, with several having
been tossed around before we knew Harry would be Harry. In fact, Henry/Harry
was the only boys' name that we ever really took seriously. We both thought
of it independently. We both liked it. It was done. Now, it's time to start
over .
