November 23, 2004 - Tuesday
It may be just my imagination, but it seems to me that each of the last few
Monday mornings Jeremy has gotten up in a very cheerful mood. Mondays, I believe
he understands now, are the day he will go to Mary's house rather than to
school. I think he's happy enough at school, and he certainly looked forward
to starting there, but Mary's is an unmistakably familiar and comfortable
place for him and I don't think there's really any question that compared
to the stress of learning to be in a new place with a bunch of other kids
he's just starting to become friends with that the familiar is very welcome.
So, I'm pretty confident it is not my imagination.
On the other hand, it may just be my imagination, but it seems to me that
each of the last few Tuesday mornings Jeremy has gotten up in a grumpy mood.
Even if it is harder for him, I know that he's doing well at school and getting
comfortable there, too. So, if it isn't my imagination, I'm still not all
that concerned. He'll probably feel more or less that way about going to school
for the next 14 years.
