September 3, 2004 - Friday
All week Jeremy has been doing exceptionally well using the toilet. (I can't
help but think that he was affected by the
uncomfortable scene at the playground a week ago, although I'm not sure
whether that's good or bad for his long term psyche.) Tonight when he pooped
on the toilet, I told him again how good a job he was doing with learning
to use the toilet and pooping. He smiled proudly as usual, but also commented
that he "needed to poop on toilet to go to the "Maw-pet 'tool."
That's something I said to him on a few occasions, trying to be real matter-of-fact
about it, because it really is true: kids have to be potty trained to attend.
The amazing part is that he hear it and he understood it very clearly, and
perhaps was even motivated by it. School starts Tuesday and he's excited.
