It's a little hard to explain, but for the last few weeks I've had the feeling that Harry is now truly emerging as his own person. Of course, he's always been that, but increasingly he's getting input and ideas that are not solely from his once-closed circle of parents and family. And, of course, he's had other influences before, too. I guess the difference is that at five, as opposed to at four, he is increasingly more interested in relationships with friends and thus more attuned to what his peers have to say. All I know is that he's saying and doing stuff that certainly didn't come from me in any way and I'm not sure I've felt that before, at least not so strongly. It's not a bad thing, of course, but it is the first step down a long path.
