Today was Harry's last soccer game of the season and it's pretty clear that he likes T-Ball better. He's not overtly against soccer, and he liked his [unnecessarily large] trophy he got for just playing very much. But he's just not very good at soccer and I think that's a little frustrating. He's small for his age and doesn't run as fast as some of the other kids, nor is he at all aggressive about attacking the ball. I don't recall ever seeing him control the ball or even kick it twice in a row and that means he just doesn't get/make very many chances to really be involved in the play. Sure, he had a couple of very nice moments, including a few on defense kicking balls away from his goal. And he was involved with one of the prettiest goals of the year, a wonderful give and go out of the corner, but that was mostly an accident. The other kid kicked it to Harry and he kind of kicked it toward the net and it just so happened that the original boy had run toward that spot, got the ball and kicked it in. Mostly, Harry just follows the play and kicks at it when it's near enough. At least in T-Ball everybody gets regular turns. I was small and slow as a kid, too, and therefore not very good either, but I retained a healthy (unhealthy?} interest in sports anyway. It will be interesting to see which way Harry goes as he grows up.
