November 10, 2005 - Thursday
This really wouldn't mean anything to Jeremy if I told him at this age, but I was thinking about him today. I'm away from home for a couple of days on business and was one of twenty people at a product workshop looking at a new version of a software suite. After a lengthy demonstration of a particularly important new feature set, the presenter asked me directly what I thought about this development. It's a feature he knew I had a particular professional interest in. I was all the way across the room and initially I just gave him the thumbs up sign, but the progress they'd made with the feature was quite impressive, I thought, so I spoke up. "As my three-year-old son [he's four now, of course, but three is what came out] would say, 'a hundred thumbs up.'

It said just want needed to be said. It also got a big smile from the company people and a big laugh from the other reviewers.
