September 22, 2005 - Thursday
Jeremy and I had a cello lesson this afternoon, at least a pretend one. Thursday is Harry's drum lesson day and so he, Jeremy, and I went over to the music school this afternoon. It was the third week of music lessons this semester and thus the third week of Jeremy going over to the music school for Harry's lesson. And it was the third week without a cello teacher for Jeremy. Interestingly, and charmingly, he's noticed and has asked about a few times, including today when we were getting ready to go to Harry.
"Do you want to bring your cello today, Jeremy?"
"Yeah."
"Maybe we could find a room and have our own cello lesson."
"Yea-a-ah. Maybe it could be the room I used with Kate."
"Maybe. We'll have to see if someone is using it."

So we brought his cello and his chair and after we dropped Harry off at the percussion room, we got Jeremy's cello out of the car. Kate's old room was in-use, but the stage and music hall was not. We tried bowing a little, playing "Ants," and practicing putting is left-hand figures on the strings for about 10 minutes, no more, and then tried to listen through the walls to hear Harry's drumming. But that was enough. Jeremy got to play his cello a little and we didn't have to think of something else to pass the time waiting for Harry. I know the music school is trying to find a new teacher, but this might work, at least for a little while.
