December 8, 2006 - Friday
Tonight was the first time Harry got to wear his new Cub Scout uniform. Because of Thanksgiving, it was at his second Pack instead of his first Den meeting. Usually there are three Den meetings for every one Pack meeting and the pack meetings are probably more fun because the kids actually do stuff. At Pack meetings they mostly have to sit around and watch different kids get awards. But tonight was a little bit better because they gave out the kits for January's Pinewood Derby.
Jeremy and I actually didn't stay for the entire Pack meeting. We dropped Harry off and went up to the library to see the lighting of the Town Christmas tree. That was almost certainly better than forcing Jeremy to sit through an hour and a half Pack meeting, since it would be even less interesting for him.
Before we left for the meeting I was helping Harry put on his new shirt (which I spend two hours on this afternoon trying to figure out how to sew the patches on), neckerchief, and belt and showing him how to tuck in his shirt and everything. Jeremy kept saying, "it's so handsome. Harry, you're going to be so handsome." It was very cute. And Jeremy was right about Harry looking so handsome.
Here's another picture from the pack meeting that I only put here to show that, indeed, Harry is a small kid. I'm sure that he's the smallest in his grade, as I was when I was in Cub Scouts, but he is certainly small for his age and small compared to the rest of the kids his age in his den.
