Harry had his first cub scout den meeting today. He went to his first pack meeting more than a month ago, but because of the holidays the schedule hasn't worked out for a den meeting since then. It was small affair, with just five Tiger Cubs in attendance, and the boys played telephone (passing a story from one to the next), rehearsed a skit for the next pack meeting, and made little walnut shell boats. I just hung around and watched and mostly thought to myself that it might be fun to be a den leader in some ways, but that I'd be too high strung. I'd have to have every minute played out for fear that the kids would go all goofy and out of control; either that or I'd be constantly holding up the cub scout sign for everyone to be quiet. That's probably an exaggeration, but I think I'd have a lot less patience for the fooling around. And would that be a bad thing?
