On Monday I happened to buy Harry some winter gloves at the local hardware store. Harry always wants to buy whatever is at any store we go to, of course, but he does need new winter hand wareand the gloves seemed both reasonably priced and strong enough to last, so I bought them. Unfortunately, while the smallest sized gloves seemed just barely small enough to be practical for Harry, they were just too big for Jeremy and we didn't get any for him. It just didn't make sense. Of course, every since then Jeremy's been clamoring about getting gloves, and not mittens, for himself. So today we made a special trip to a couple of different stores to find gloves that would fit Jeremy and it proved to be a challenge. We did find some knit ones at Kohls, but I'm not sure knit gloves are very practical for snow in the winter. Then we finally found some small ones at the Burlington Coat Factory that actually seemed to fit. They were nice black gloves, but they had a big plastic Sponge Bob picture sewn into the back of each hand. Somewhat surprisingly given his adamant desire for gloves, Jeremy refused them on the grounds of fashion. He was right, of course, and good for him. They were ugly with that Sponge Bob thing. But I would have thought the materialistic side would have won out. It almost certainly would have with Harry, although Jeremy is clearly more fashion-conscious.
