Harry's school had it's annual Open House this evening and like last year when Harry was in kindergarten and in the same building, it gave us a chance to see Harry's main classroom and various rooms for his "special" classes: gym, library, art, music, and computer. Morte importantly, perhaps. it gave Harry a chance to be a big shot and lead us all around the building. Admittedly, he wasn't quite as bursting with pride as he was last year, but he still seemed pretty proud to be the one who knew everything.

Interestingly, Harry had his name tag at a two-person desk positioned right next to his teacher's desk rather than at one of the half dozen (or so) round, 4-person tables throughout his classroom. We later learned from his friend Derek's mother - Derek was the other classmate whose name tag was at this special desk, that it was a point of honor to be able to sit there. Apparently, each week the teacher picks one student who has been the best student, or the best behaved student (I'm not really sure), and that student gets to pick one friend to sit at this front table with him. Derek was the student for this week and he picked Harry.
