April 1, 2000 - Saturday
Harry's latest
experiment with vocalizing has produced a sound that drives his mother crazy.
It's a very thin, nasal whine that doesn't seem to be an unhappy noise - for
him anyway - just a new sound that he's happened to discover his body can
make. Oh, joy.
Fortunately, there is a fairly clear difference between this whine and those
that connote hunger or fatigue and, for me, that's the difference between
very disturbing and just annoying. With only a few momentary lapses on my
part, I've been able to tune it out. Sometimes I can even be happy for my
boy that he's learning new things, new sounds, new capabilities of his body.
Sometimes, however, Harry's discovery is less fun. His mother agrees. We hope
it's just April Fools.
