March 30, 2000 - Thursday
Over the last month or so Harry has become more vocal and less often the happy, quiet baby he was in the first couple of months. He's still a very good baby by most standards, I'm sure, but he has had his mother and me a little less confident about trying things like going to the movies and restaurants. During my time with him this morning, however, Harry was all charm - bearly whimpering at all. When he did grumble it was just a reminder that dad had to get back to business working up new acitivities to stimulate his young mind. A little refreshed attention was all Harry seemed to be looking for.

Ah, so now my mind's in overdrive trying to figure out what was different about last night or this morning to make him so content again. Yes, he slept fairly well, but not overly well or all that differently than other recent nights. His mother feed him twice before she left for work. That's a little more than usual, so maybe he needs to eat more for breakfast. Maybe his mother was just in a good mode this morning and her milk tasted better. Maybe I was more creative than usual and kept him more occupied, but I don't think so. Whatever it was, I hope it comes back tomorrow.

Unfortunately, Harry's mother reports that Harry's bliss did not last and he apparently got grumpier in the afternoon, culminating in a crying frenzy in the early evening. Go figure.
