We have a month before
Harry has to start daycare full-time. His mother will need to return to work
at the library full days rather than working from home during the afternoon
and, while Harry always draws a crowd on the occasions he's been there with
her, he will not be able to go there daily starting next month. Thus, daycare
and having another person spend more time with him than we do. I already feel
guilty about the last couple of weeks when I've not been spending as much
time with him. It's probably my imagination, and admittedly it's most likely
just that he's hungry and knows now what mom means from a utilitarian perspective,
but it seems as though during that time he's become more comfortable with
her than with me.
For this month, now that our old house is now occupied, Harry will be coming
to my lab during the days. He spent this morning at daycare as usual, but
in the afternoon he and his mother were in one of our back rooms. On mornings
when he's not at daycare, I'll have him here while his mother works at the
library. It's a fine enough short term solution, especially given our upcoming
vacation, and the others around the lab don't seem to mind. When he gets stir
crazy, there are place nearby where we can go for a walk.
