Harry's mother has started calling him
"Sweetie" lately.
She most often says this when he's hit his head or caused himself some other
discomfort as she's picking him up to ease his pain, but sometimes it's also
emerging as a more general nickname as it becomes habit. It's not a particularly
masculine nickname for a little boy, but it is definitely a motherly one.
"Boo-boo," on the other
hand, is not so common anymore. Perhaps that's because it was whimsical to
begin with, but Harry's boo-hoos seem less random than they used to. Now when
he cries it's usually from the head banging, fatigue, or some other more targeted
dislike. General unhappiness is more commonly expressed with a mix of whining
and babble. When he's particularly unhappy, the babbling is a steady stream
of emphatic "baa, baa, baa" with sharp consonants and an unmistakable
tone of discontent. In an unfortunate way, it's really very funny, but he's
doing his best to communicate so we try not to laugh.
