Jeremy has entered the "goo" phase. He's actually been doing it
for a few days, but now it's very obvious that he's trying to respond to his
mother and father when we say "aah" or "goo" to him with
a smile. His eyes get wide now. His little month begins to open and close.
His chin starts to move and, with it, his whole head is bobbing in every direction.
Sometimes his lips will even quiver, then his whole body will pump with excitement
and purpose. Every ounce of concentration is at work in his head. I remember
from Harry that I can't get too excited when he says it, lest I scare the
little guy. So, I smile with a little room to smile more when he does it.
There are often a few false starts when he'll open his mouth and nothing will
come. Alas, he has forgotten to breath. But, he's committed to the cause and
eventually, and inevitably these days, his mouth will form the little oval
and out will come a lovely "ooooh" that only a baby, or E.T., came
properly make.
