We all woke up promptly this morning and ate breakfast
together before Harry's mother had to leave for work. That's not abnormal,
but usually things aren't quite that efficiently and Harry and I are usually
still eating when his mother leaves. But, having finished early, we had a
little longer together before I would bring Harry to daycare. We still have
a train set that we bought a couple of months
ago and never opened and I figured this would be a good morning to find
a new distraction.
Harry's already a pro at understand new boxes and as soon as I pulled the
box out of the bag he started calling "opie, opie" for me to get it open.
As I was unpacking the train set, I couldn't help noticing that the box suggested
that it was a toy for Ages 3 and Up and I immediately began to wonder whether
Harry's past interest in other train sets, in a store and at his daycare,
were anomalies. And, maybe they were. The idea of the train going smoothly
down the tracks did seem a little beyond Harry at this point, but no matter.
There were 32 different pieces in this started set, including tracks, trains,
wooden animals (including a "zeezee") and Harry
had no trouble finding interest. What's more, after he had finished making
the most of the new objects Harry spent an equal amount of time putting
them all back in the box, dumping the box, and putting them again .
