July 27, 2002 - Saturday
A week or two ago I sang Harry "Teddy Bear" at bedtime. Somehow
I remembered the words off the top of my head and he seemed to get a big kick
out of it. The next day, or shortly thereafter anyway, I put on our Elvis
CD and played his version of the song. Harry immediately recognized it and
ever since has been requesting Elvis almost whenever we're in the living room.
Of course, "I want Elvis" doesn't really mean Elvis in general,
but rather the Teddy Bear song specifically, although after "Teddy Bear"
Harry seems quite content to let the CD play out rather than repeating Teddy
Bear over and over. This morning his mother tried to put another Elvis CD
on instead of the one with Teddy Bear and it didn't go over too well until
half way through the second song, "Are You Lonesome Tonight," when
Elvis starts his talking bridge. That got Harry's attention and he talked
about it through the rest of the day.
