This shirt used to be Harry's shirt
and when I put it on him he said so. It's not the first time he's worn the
hand-me-down, but Jeremy's been saying things like this recently. For example,
last night his mother read a couple of books to him that I got from the library
and when she started he said "daddy." He's done the same with objects
that have come from Mary's house, or something left by grandma. That's interesting
to me for a couple of reasons. First, it's surprising that he's so aware of
the shirt. In fact, he tried to take it off a short time later, saying "Yisch,
Yisch." More intriguing is this wonderfully mature realization that
everything is not, by right, his. Amazing, I don't think I've ever even heard
Jeremy say "mine."
