April 28, 2004 - Wednesday
One of Harry's old teachers from his old school, Kelly, came over to baby-sit
this evening and Harry was pretty excited to see her. I actually never saw
Kelly, having left for a meeting before she came and getting home after the
boys' mother, but I know he was excited in the afternoon long before she came.
Apparently, he only got moreso when she eventually came. His mother and I
have wondered whether seeing Kelly, a particularly nice young woman, would
confuse the issue of switching schools. But, there's no way to know.
Interestingly, when I was talking to Harry about Kelly coming over I asked
what he would show her and tell her. Would he tell her about the new school?
Yes.
Would he show her his toys? Of course.
Would he show her his "new Spooky"? Of course he would, but his
answer was a little surprising.
"I don't want to call her 'Spooky' anymore."
"What are you going to call her, Harry?"
"I don't want to call her anything....I'll just call her a guinea pig...hey,
maybe I could name her Guinea Pig."
"That's a silly name for a guinea pig," I said in a silly voice.
Harry laughed.
So, was Harry being self-conscious about not thinking
of a more imaginative name?
