April 24, 2004 - Saturday
We happened to see the end of a collegiate track and field competition on TV this afternoon. When we turned it on there was just one event left, but that was the men's 4x400 relay race and it was pretty exciting to watch with lot's a people running, lots of teams, passing the baton: it was good stuff. And, it was exciting enough to have the boys playing race around our downstairs loop.
Earlier today, we went to the library for an Earth Day event that included a talk about wolves with a live wolf there to see. That was interesting itself, but the thing that I noted right away was how different Harry was about going into the crowded room where the talk was to be. Two years ago at a similar event, Harry was quite uncomfortable about being in such a crowded room. Harry had that same hesitation we I took him to a chamber music concert there just this past January. But today, he calmly went in, sat down among the assembling kids, and attentively listened to the talk about wolves. No doubt he's growing up.
Perhaps equally noteworthy was that Jeremy, now almost the exact age Harry was two years ago when he had crowd anxieties and going through many age-similar phases of development (like not liking the wind from open car windows), happily sat there, too. Although, Jeremy's always been a little more laid back.
