Harry's school switched to a summer camp program a couple of weeks ago and
apparently they start each day raising the flag, saying the pledge of allegiance,
and singing songs. I knew the first two of those happened, but it wasn't until
Harry started singing the "Grand Old Flag" constantly that I realized
that third one. That constant singing might sound annoying, but I hardly think
of it that way. Oh sure, Harry shouts it out when we're not paying him enough
attention, but if it weren't the Grand Old Flag it would be something else
and probably something far more grating. Mostly it's just great to hear him
sing and that mostly because it's out of character for Harry to be so overt.
There are other songs, too, mostly silly kid songs, that have come out a time
or two. But, with Independence Day and all the flags around it's been the
first two lines of Grand Old Flag for the past week or so.
