The last three mornings at breakfast Jeremy has gotten all whiny because his
slippers falling off and his feet being cold. I suppose I should just help
him put them back on, and I did that on the first day. But his slippers are
the leather-soled sock kind with elastic fabrique above his ankle and there
is no way they would just fall off with his feet dangling beneath the table.
It is certainly possible that, as a small child who, like all small children,
has trouble sitting still, his unconscious leg swinging and feet rubbing below
the table could have caused a slipper to fall off once or twice. Yet, on each
occasion he waited until both slippers were on the floor before crying about
needing help putting them back on and I think the likelihood of both slippers
falling off almost simultaneously on three consecutive days is highly unlikely.
Call me callous, but I think it's a power game and I'm not playing along.
