September 26, 2004 - Sunday
We invited Rip and his parents up to Maine this weekend and that meant Rip
and Harry had there first "sleepover" together. Fortunately for
us, a morning at the beach, a walk in the woods while Jeremy napped, an afternoon
game of mini-golf, and staying up a little late had all all three boys quite
tired and ready for sleeping. In fact, Jeremy even asked to go to bed (as
unheard on as that may sound for a two-year-old, it is not the first time
Jeremy has decided he was ready for bed). We had openly wondered what would
happen with the three boys - Rip, Harry, and Jeremy - earlier in the day,
expecting that Rip and Harry would probably want to sleep in the same room
and half expecting Jeremy to not want to be left out. But by the end of a
busy day Jeremy had no interest in anything other than his familiar room upstairs.
As for Rip and Harry, they did share the same room, but fell asleep after
a few stories from Rip's dad and me. It wasn't really a true experiment, though,
because Rip got agitated when Harry said that he wanted to talk all night
and Rip's dad went in the room to calm him down and ended up falling asleep
in there himself. At least it kept them quiet, save a couple of middle of
the night disorientation moments from each boy, until about 6:00am when they
started to talk. All in all, they probably slept better than we did.
