January 20, 2005 - Thursday
I took the boys to see a magician/child entertainer at the local library this afternoon after school and here are a few random observations:

The boys in the crowd clearly had a harder time sitting still than the girls. That includes Harry, although I'm pleased to say that his movement was mostly limited to his constant rearrangement of how he was sitting, quietly moving around in the space around him and unlike many of the boys (probably 5-8 years old) you got up, spoke out, disrupted the show, etc.

Harry actually didn't what to watch when the magician appear to pour milk into a girl's boot, then balance it high up on a stack of blocks. He didn't want to see it spill. Interesting. Why is that different from the random crashing he is increasingly growing fond of? I don't think we've been too oppressive when he's spilled things.?.

At the end of the show both Harry and Jeremy, as well as others in the crowd, gathered what amounted to confetti from one of the magic tricks to take home. The magician called in magic dust and I guess that made it exciting. They played with it at home, but they started mixing it into all sorts of stuff and we just figured we'd be finding it in the sofa and other places for days and eventually threw it in the garbage. I didn't think Harry would really care, but he pointed out later that my throwing it away made him sad. Bagged!
