Harry was really so proud to be walking in Memorial Day parade this morning with his Giants. All the town's Little Leaguers can do, but somehow the Giants got to be first in line and Harry was out front and very excited. He seemed to have the hand waving his mother taught him down cold. I would have walked with him if he had wanted, but he said that I should go watch with grandpa, gramma, mommy, and Jeremy. It's just another step toward solid self-confidence. Good for him.

(Notice Harry's nicely rolled together baseball socks and pants. It's part of the "baseball secret" that I always thought was so cool as a boy. I've shown the secret to Harry and he loves it, too. I just don't get, aside from people following the capricious whims of fashion, how kids and major leaguers alike wouldn't always want to show of their baseball socks and their knowledge of the baseball uniform secret. I tell Harry that maybe the other kids dads didn't play baseball. Thankfully, the elegant sock fashion does seem to be returning at the major league level.)

The kids join the parade as it gets to Main St., avoiding the first half mile of walking and one of the Memorial Day ceremonies at the VFW, but they still walk more than a mile mostly up a gradual hill. Didn't seem to matter to Harry. I ran to meet him where the parade ends at Town Hall and aside from being a little warm and sweaty, he was all smiles. He told me about seeing Miss Maria and some of the kids from school along the parade route and we watched the rest of the parade together, mostly the "army guys," as it came up behind the teams. He was a happy boy.
